Dare to be Different

One of the things that can be so difficult in life is to give up worrying about what other people think about you. It’s so easy to let what others think about us dictate our behavior. I’ve definitely been guilty of this.

We modify what we do based on how we think others are going to perceive our actions.

When we decide to pursue excellence and greatness, our actions will often seem extreme or “crazy” to others. Don’t let that discourage you.

As Joshua Medcalf would say, though it may feel like a sacrifice, it’s really the price of admission to becoming great.

While it’s natural to care about what others think, I find myself needing to be reminded often to not let it affect the pursuit of my goals. It’s okay to feel like a salmon swimming up stream.

People may think you’re crazy for waking up at 4:30 a.m. (or earlier) to work out.

They may think you’re crazy for being so careful about the foods you consume and tracking everything you eat.

They may think you’re crazy for listening to so many podcasts and reading so many personal development books.

They may think you’re crazy for not paying attention to the news.

They may think you’re crazy for limiting your time on social media or watching TV.

They may think you’re crazy for how much time you spend working on developing your craft and building your business

So be it! Most people are content with mediocrity…

I’m not, and if you’re reading this, hopefully you’re not either.

I don’t think I’m better than anyone else, but I don’t want to be like everyone else.

You can’t stand out when you’re running with the herd.

So here’s your daily reminder to keep grinding and to be more concerned with your character than your reputation.

It’ll be worth it!
